Empowering Insights and Innovations: Novasign's Path to Transforming Data into Action
Mark Duerkop

At Novasign we've always been driven by the passion to innovate and optimize. Our journey from 2019 to 2023 is a testament to how small teams can achieve significant growth with the right strategies and relentless dedication. Back in 2019 and shortly after founding the company, we released our Software Suite to accelerate bioprocess development. In 2019 we were clocking in a modest 4,884 modeling hours worldwide annually within our toolbox. During the pandemic this number dropped significantly but by 2023 we've skyrocketed that number to an astonishing 38,659 hours.

Here's a brief look into how clients interact with our toolbox:
Data Visualization and Understanding
Our clients have leveraged our toolbox to transform complex data into clear, actionable insights. With intuitive data visualization features, they are able to understand trends and patterns, making informed decisions quicker than ever before.
Hybrid Modeling
The hybrid modeling capabilities of our toolbox have enabled our clients to blend data-driven and first-principles models. This approach has proven invaluable in capturing system dynamics accurately, leading to better predictions and optimizations with minimal set of data.
Digital Twin Application to Accelerate Bioprocess Development
Perhaps the most groundbreaking has been the use of our toolbox for creating digital twins. Users have created virtual replicas of their physical systems, allowing for in-silico process simulations that learn from previous experiments and improves itself every time. Thereby our Software Suite reduces the need for physical experiments to accelerate bioprocess development cycles. The models are directly applied during new experiments for real-time decision making. Further, the digital twin incorporates economic factors which is of highest importance for clients with sensitive price tags on their products like in cultured food processes. We already published several peer-reviewed articles, also with clients, of how our digital twin feature could help to optimize different unit operations.
Client-Centric Software Suite Evolution
Our growth in modeling hours reflects the value our clients derive from these features. As they continue to engage deeply with each aspect of our toolbox, we see a direct correlation in their operational success and our increased usage metrics. Our toolbox is not just designed for our clients, but it’s also co-developed by them.
Looking forward, we remain committed to refining our software suite by introducing new features that align with our clients' evolving needs. Our journey is a testament to the power of collaborative innovation and the significant achievements a small, dedicated team can make. Here's to scaling new heights together with our clients at Novasign.
